EquityBankLoan is an independent resource for homeowners trying to understand home equity borrowing and compare the ways of doing it.
What this site does
We research home equity financing products, explain how they work, and record what individual lenders publish about their own terms. We also build tools, starting with a home equity calculator, that let you work through your own numbers.
Where a lender publishes a figure, we record it with the page we read it on and the date we read it. Where a lender does not publish something, we say so. We do not fill the gap with a typical figure or borrow one from a comparable lender, because a number nobody can trace back to a source is worse than an honest blank.
What this site is not
EquityBankLoan is not a bank, a lender, a mortgage broker or a loan servicer. We do not lend money, we do not take applications, we do not decide who qualifies for anything, and we do not service loans. Nothing here is an offer of credit or financial advice.
Who publishes it
EquityBankLoan is published and edited by Michael Yanda, its founder and editor. He founded the consumer finance site Finance Globe in 2005 and has spent more than two decades working with financial products, data and software, including building public-facing financial tools and working directly with banks and financial institutions to publish and maintain accurate product information.
Michael is not a lender, a mortgage broker or a licensed financial adviser. His responsibility here is editorial: deciding what gets published, checking that it is supported by a source, and being accountable for it.
How the research works
Research is AI-assisted. An automated research agent we call Chris locates lender disclosures and product pages, extracts published terms, structures them, and flags what is missing or inconsistent. Chris is software, not a person, and we say so wherever its work appears.
Automated research is not verification. It is preparation for verification. Material that a human has reviewed carries a reviewed-by line and the date; material that has not been reviewed does not, and says only that Chris researched it under editorial oversight. The site generates that distinction from its own review records rather than from anyone typing it, so the label cannot drift away from the truth.
The full method is set out in our editorial policy.
Money
EquityBankLoan currently has no advertising, no affiliate links and no commercial relationship with any lender. If that changes it will be disclosed. Our how we make money page describes the current position and the rules we intend to hold to.
