Founder & Editor, EquityBankLoan
Michael Yanda is the founder and editor of EquityBankLoan. He decides what gets published, sets the sourcing standards the site works to, and reviews lender records against the sources they cite.
Background
He founded the consumer finance site Finance Globe in 2005 and has been its author and developer ever since. Over more than two decades he has worked with financial products, data and software, across writing, software development, product research, financial data management and site administration. His author biography at Finance Globe sets out that history.
Much of that work has involved partnering directly with banks and financial institutions to publish and maintain accurate product information, including rates, fees, offer terms and product details. That work has centered on credit card products rather than mortgage lending.
He has also built public-facing financial tools intended to make financial information easier to use, including calculators and comparison tools.
Why that matters here
EquityBankLoan is, at bottom, a records problem. Lenders publish terms in disclosures and fine print, those terms change, and most of what circulates online about them has been copied from other publishers rather than read from the source. Keeping a published record accurate over years, working from primary documents and maintaining it as it moves, is the specific thing Michael has spent two decades doing.
That is the basis for the editorial role: experience maintaining accurate financial product information, not expertise in lending.
What he is not
Michael is not a lender, a mortgage broker, a loan officer, an underwriter or a licensed financial adviser, and nothing on this site is personal financial advice. He does not originate, arrange, approve or service loans, and he has no financial interest in any lender described here.
Home equity borrowing is consequential and individual. For advice about your own circumstances, speak to a qualified professional.
Editorial responsibility
EquityBankLoan publishes to a written set of editorial standards, and Michael is responsible for them. Research prepared by our AI research agent, Chris, is structured evidence rather than a finished record, and it is never presented as reviewed until a person has been through it.
Where a page or a lender record carries a line saying he reviewed it, that is a factual claim about the specific version you are reading. His review asks whether the information is reasonably supported by the sources cited, and whether it is presented accurately, based on what those sources said at the time shown on the page. The site records a fingerprint of what was reviewed, and if any published fact, source or piece of evidence changes afterwards, the claim is withdrawn automatically until he looks again. Where you do not see that line, he has not yet reviewed that version, and the site says so instead of implying otherwise.
Human review is not a promise that every figure and statement is free of error. Rates, terms, fees and eligibility requirements change, sometimes without notice, and a reading that was right on the date shown may not describe what a lender offers today. Confirm current terms with the lender before you make a financial decision. Our site disclaimer sets out these limits in full.
